Mrs. Joan Elizabeth Beck

11/29/1934 - 10/03/2024

Obituary:

Mrs. Joan E Mumford Walter Beck of South Hill, VA passed peacefully on October 3. 2024 after a hero’s battle with Alsheimer's. Joanie (aka Charlie) was a complicated lady with a combination of sass and class which was witnessed by all that knew her. She was blessed to have been married to two good men, each for 25 years. She and her high school sweetheart, Gerald M Walter, Sr, produced four children Sharon, Susan (deceased), Gerald, Jr. and Richard. Her second husband, Paul Beck, Jr. enriched her life for the next quarter of a century. Her family was expanded by his three children, Jeffry, Douglas and Diane. Between the two families there are many nieces, nephews and grandchildren and even a great grandson. She had two brothers, Leroy and Gary (deceased), two half-brother's, Carl and Joseph, and two half-sisters, Karen and Katherine. Her life was very full! In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.It is the wish of her family that services be private. Any condolences may be made online through website, www.crowderhitecrews.com. The family would like to give thanks to Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory and Amedysis Hospice for their help in making her final transition a relatively peaceful one for both she and her family. Her work here on earth is complete and we thank you lord for allowing us the opportunity of having her in our lives.
