Mrs. Mary Frances Reese Higdon, age 94, of Kenbridge, passed away on Monday July 27, 2026, just six days shy of her 95th birthday, in her home, with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul James Higdon; her parents, William T. and Sarah Thompson Reese; three brothers: Allen Reese, William Reese and Edward Reese and her sister, Rachel R. Hawthorne. Mrs. Higdon is survived by her two daughters: Wanda H. Gee and Karen Michelle Hawks (Brian); her son, Paul Higdon (Norma); her seven grandchildren: Kenny Gee (Tracy), Randy Gee (Laura), Kyle Gee (Kathy), Josh Higdon (Janna), Ryan Higdon (Colleen), Tyler Hawks and Fallyn Hawks (Andrew); her fourteen great-grandchildren: Carter, Shelby G., Wyatt, Daniel, Thomas, Isabella, Kenley, Shelby H., Easton, Lucas, Allie, Paisley, Ben and Dean; her brother, Lloyd Reese, and many devoted and beloved nieces, nephews and dear friends. Frances always loved her vegetable garden. She would pick and cook fresh vegetables to share with her children and grandchildren. She had a green thumb and could grow the most beautiful flowers. She also enjoyed reading, playing cards, and shopping. Above all else, she loved time with her family. I am deeply saddened by the passing of Aunt Francis. My heartfelt condolences and prayers are with Wanda, Michelle, Paul, and the entire family during this difficult time.
Although my time with Aunt Francis was brief, the kindness, warmth, and genuine acceptance she showed me left a lasting impression on my heart. I will always be grateful for the love and grace she extended so freely.
I pray that God surrounds your family with His peace and comfort, strengthens you in the days ahead, and fills your hearts with the cherished memories of Aunt Francis. May you find hope in the promise of eternal life through Christ.
Aunt Francis, may you rest in the loving arms of our Lord. May perpetual light shine upon you, and may your soul rest in eternal peace. You will be fondly remembered.
