Patsy Webster Morefield
01/02/1935 - 09/30/2026
Patsy Webster Morefield, 91, of South Hill, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the loved ones who meant so much to her.
Affectionately known by her family and friends as “Nan-Nan,” Patsy was a woman whose greatest gift was the unconditional love she gave so freely to her family. While she held many jobs throughout her life, her most important and cherished role was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She spent her later years in the home, providing constant care, comfort, and unwavering love to those around her.
Her first job was at Roses Five & Dime Department Store, working for Mr. Rose himself. Patsy was married for 24 years to the late Darrell Nathaniel Morefield. During their marriage, she lived with him while he was stationed in Morocco, where she worked at the Naval Exchange
Though she was a hardworking woman, Patsy’s family was always at the center of her world. She was happiest surrounded by the people she loved and took great pride in watching her family grow. Her unconditional love, strength, compassion, and devotion will continue to live on through the generations she helped raise.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Darrell Nathaniel Morefield; daughter, Cynthia L. Seward and son in law Joe L. Seward III ; daughter-in-law, Francis Morefield; grandsons, Joe L. Seward IV and Kevin Carpenter and great-granddaughter, Courtney Michelle Seward; her parents, Garfield and Mary Webster.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, Darrell “Wayne” Morefield of Bluff City, TN; Mylissa Gale Morefield of South Hill, VA; Rodney Blaine Morefield (Mary Ann) of Ruther Glen, VA; and Theresa Dianne Morefield of South Hill, VA.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, David Wayne Morefield (Megan); Bradley Scott Morefield (Tara); Suzanna Elizabeth Alexander (TJ); Corey Blaine Morefield (Brooke); Quinten James Finch; and Darren Nathaniel Morefield (Lorrie Beth). Jennifer Russell(David), Lisa Holloway(Jeff), Donna Saunders(Ricky), and Martha Moseley(Keefe).
Patsy was blessed with 15 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous other special people whom she loved dearly and welcomed into her heart and family.
Among those especially dear to Nan-Nan were Greyson and Rayna Alexander, her special great-grandchildren, and her bonus grandson, Baylen Fleming.
Patsy also had two very special canine companions who remained faithfully by her side, Sam and Cole.
Her family will remember Nan-Nan not only for the life she lived, but for the love she gave. Her presence was a constant source of comfort and security, and the memories she created with her family will be treasured for generations to come. Though she is no longer with them, the love she poured into her family will remain a lasting part of each life she touched.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 1pm at Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory in South Hill, Virginia. A graveside service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at La Crosse Cemetery in La Crosse, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Patsy’s memory to South Hill Longbeards NWTF Chapter, 2362 Union Level Road, South Hill, VA 23970 or Mecklenburg County Cancer Association PO Box 94, Clarksville,VA.
Patsy “Nan-Nan” Morefield leaves behind a legacy measured not in possessions or accomplishments, but in the countless lives she loved, cared for, and touched. Her greatest job was simply loving her family—and she did that job unconditionally and beautifully.
