Mr. Kim Alan Phillips

Mr. Kim Alan Phillips, age 72, of Henrico, N.C. died Monday, September 2, 2019 at his residence. He was a retired U. S. Navy veteran with twenty-four years of service, a musician, performer, composer, professional D.J. and the owner/operator of Lake Gaston Music. Mr. Phillips is survived by his present wife Mary D. Gugler of the home, former wife Laurie and their children Paul, Meghan and Maureen, former wife Janice and children Victor and Jessica. four sisters; Kayla Ernsting, Kendra Thacker, Jan McMillen and Terri Laughlin ,a brother Mark Houser and several grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother Kelly Houser. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted Sunday, September 8, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. in Prospect United Methodist Church, Ebony, Va. with interment at a later date in the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veteran Cemetery, Suffolk, Va. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Prospect UMC, P. O. Box 25, Ebony, Va. 23845. I always say that the Lake Gaston Regional Chamber of Commerce is a family. Kim was definitely part of our family. He brought joy to many events through music. I will never forget one of the first Business After Hours near Halloween that I organized after coming to the Chamber. I thought it would be fun to have a costume contest. Kim came creatively dressed as Popeye. Kim and I had many a good conversation in my office about a variety of topics. I know that he is in Heaven, likely wearing his signature suspenders and definitely making music.
Dearest Mary, I am praying for you during this difficult time, but I know that your faith will see you through.
