Hilton Howell Toms, III

Mr. Hilton Howell Toms III, age 80 of South Hill, died Thursday, June 11, 2020 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital, Lynchburg, VA. He was a retired maintenance supervisor at J.A. Barker Construction, a former employee of NAPA Auto Parts in South Hill and the widower of Alice Pace Toms.
Hilton is survived by his daughter Theresa Atkins of Orange, Va., four granddaughters; Ali Lupton (Michael) of Staunton, Va. , Holly Morris of South Hill, Pace Morris of Charlottesville and Sarah Morris also of Orange, Va. , ten great grandchildren and a grandson-in-law Jeremy Jackson.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. in Oakwood Cemetery, South Hill. Online condolences may be made through our website, Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Toms family.

  1. I knew Mr. Toms from working at Hickory Hill, I quit not to long ago but he was my absolute favorite resident there. We had a lot of conversations that I will always treasure. If you were having a bad day he would make you laugh. I loved his sense of humor and him always joking with me. He will be missed. Prayers for all of his family and friends.

    Theresa, not sure if you remember us or not, but Irma and I lived next door to you guys on Lunenburg Ave. for a few years back in the 1970’s. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad time. Your father was a unique individual and a good neighbor. I know he will be missed.

    So sorry to learn of Hilton’s death. I enjoyed chatting with him while he was in the Hundley Annex.
    May God be with each member of his family in the months ahead without him.
