Mr. Scott Davis Watkins

11/20/1961 - 09/19/2021

Obituary:

Mr. Scott Davis Watkins, age 59, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, September 19th. Scott was born on November 20, 1961, to the late Lawrence Clifton and Lucy Williams Watkins. He is survived by family members, Billy, Becky and David, Clifton and Stacey (their children Avery, Emma Channing, Reagan, and Cash), William and Amber all residing in Palmer Springs, VA. He is also survived by Kelsey and Matthew (their children, Piper and Gage) of Holly Springs, NC. Scott was an active co-owner of Maple Hill Farm, where he enjoyed the times he spent bailing hay and teaching the next generation how to operate a tractor. Some of his favorite family memories were teaching his nephews and niece how to hunt and farm the land. Scott had quite a few nicknames, but we believe his favorite was GUS (Great Uncle Scott). He loved taking the great-nieces and nephews on Gator rides around the farm, sharing special handshakes, and giving them candy and cookies to sugar them up as he called it. Scott was also an active member of the Palmer Springs Community. He joined the Palmer Springs Volunteer Fire Department at the age of 16 and was active up to his passing as a Sergeant within the department. Hunting was a favorite pastime for him. He was an active member of the Palmer Springs Hunt Club, where he was always known as “Yogi Bear”. He treasured his special memories with the community which included, field trials, truck pulls, golf tournaments, lots of birthday celebrations, and cooking a steak with his close friends. A celebration of Scott’s life will be on Saturday, September 25th from 10 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the Palmer Springs Volunteer Fire Department. A private graveside service will follow at a later date. Any memorial contributions can be donated to the Palmer Springs Volunteer Fire Department. 1. Family & Friends of Scott

Th sorrow of the faithful is not that of permanent loss, but the tender sense of sadness that comes in saying good-bye for now to someone you love. May today’s sorrow give way to the peace and comfort of God’s love. My thoughts and prayers with family and friends.
