Mrs. Laura Ann Royster King

04/12/1931 - 11/30/2021

Obituary:

Mrs. Laura Ann Royster King, age 90, of La Crosse, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. She was the retired food service director for VCU Community Memorial Hospital and the widow of William H. Royster and Thelbert W. King. Mrs. Royster is survived by her five daughters: Carolyn Clements and her husband Wade of Richmond, Mary Thompson and her husband Marvin “Monk” of Prince George, Nancy Laws of South Hill, Susan Jones and her husband Jerry of La Crosse and Shelia Wharam and her husband Terry of Dinwiddie; her ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Mrs. Royster-King was preceded in death by her son, William H. “Billy” Royster, Jr. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, December 2nd at 11:00 A.M. in Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory with interment to follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ephesus Baptist Church at 1642 Smith Cross Road, South Hill, VA 23970. Online condolences may be made through our webpage, www.crowderhitecrews.com.     MY DEAR FRIEND LAURA FOR CLOSE TO 50 YRS WILL BE GREATLY MISSED. WE WORKED TOGETHER AT HOLIDAY INN FOR YRS AND THEN AT HOSPITAL IN FOOD SERVICE. I WILL REALLY MISS OUR PHONE CALLS AND CATCHING UP ON OUR GOOD TIMES. I WILL BE PRAYING FOR COMFORT TO YOUR FAMILY DURING THIS SAD TIME.

  7. Laura was always one of my favorite patients. We have known each other since the 70’s when she ran the Holiday Inn restaurant. She always had a smile on her face. She was a kind soft spoken generous lady. I hope she had a peaceful journey and heaven gain another beautiful soul. She will live through our memories and stories and tears and laughter. Sending peace and love.

    Bless her ❤! One sweet kind lady. She hired me at the Holiday Inn as a waitress almost 40 yrs ago. She called me “babycakes” Praying memories of her and God’s word bring her family comfort.
