Mrs. Patricia Shoop Lafoon

12/01/1934 - 05/08/2022

Obituary:

Patricia Shoop Lafoon, age 87, of South Hill, Virginia went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, May 8, 2022 after a brief illness. Pat was born in Bucyrus, Ohio, the youngest of four children to Hamilton and Helen Shoop. She attended Longwood University with sights on becoming a Home Economics teacher, but decided instead to focus her talents on raising a family and building a home for them to return to every chance they got. Blessed with a beautiful singing voice, she shared that gift with her family, inspiring a love of music, and with the church she was devoted to. Never without her lipstick, always dressed and pressed, she was a prayer warrior with a generous spirit. Her laughter filled the room, and will be sorely missed. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-five years, Hubbard “Kip” Lafoon, her parents, three brothers: Hamilton, George, and Donald, and a beloved grandson, Nolan Rowley.

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Elaine L. Rowley (Earl) of South Hill, VA, Donna L. Cliborne (Bruce) of La Crosse, VA, two sons, Robert E. Lafoon (Pat) of Virginia Beach, VA and Mark C. Lafoon of Raleigh, NC; nine grandchildren: Dwayne Kiser (Kym), Brandon Lafoon (Tina), Kristi Lafoon, Wyatt Lafoon, Logan Rowley, Vince Cliborne (Rebecca), Brett Cliborne, Madison Cliborne, and Dee Dee Cliborne; eight great-grandchildren: Bri Keeling (Anthony), Amber Rogers (Ryan), John Thomas, Nola, Adleigh, Owen, Cora, and Bruce III; and three great-great-grandchildren: Hunter, Maverick, and Maddie.

A funeral service will be held Friday, May 13, 2022 at New Hope Christian Church, 742 New Hope Road, Danieltown, VA 23821 at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Hope Christian Church Memorial Fund at the address listed above. Online condolences may be made at www.crowderhitecrews.com.

I had the pleasure of knowing your family since I was 7 years old. Pat was never anything but Truth in Love to me.
She had a way of seeing and expressing truth in a beautiful, kind way. Donna, we’ve drifted in and out of each other’s lives our entire adult life. I was always blessed to be with your family and pray for strength and peace for all of you over the coming days, weeks and months. All my love 💕

  4. To all of Pat’s family I am so sorry to hear of her passing and I will be praying for you as you go through these sad times. Pat’s love of God and living her life in obedience to Him touched the lives of so many. She and Kip were such dear friends of my mother, and I love to think of them all along with others in their weekly prayer time group rejoicing with Jesus in heaven today.

  5. Family friend.

Chris and I are so sorry to learn of Pat’s passing. She was such a sweet and caring woman. I will always remember her with that smile and laughter. You all couldn’t have had a better mother. But I’m sure you know that. When I think of her I also see Kip. They were such a beautiful couple. And I know they are together again. Hold always to the good memories. Love you all. We’ll keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Francis and Chris

  7. You were never forgotten, dear Pat.

Tom and I have often shared our memories about Kip and Pat. We lived in the little cottage beside them as our landlords for several years after we got married. It was a happy and fun time for us because of their fun loving natures and their unashamed love of the Lord. I spent loads of time in Pat’s kitchen talking and laughing with her. I always knew that Kip and Pat prayed for us even after our departure from South Hill. Pat never forgot our anniversary and always sent us Christmas updates. Our loss is heaven’s gain with this Godly couple united with their savior. Her family was paramount in every way with her and we knew we were always a part of it in some small way. Rest In Peace, dear Pat, hand in hand with Kip and your Savior.
