  3. Saddened for us, rejoicing for Dale

    Dear Linda and families,
I am so sorry to learn of Dale’s passing. He was such a dedicated Christian gentleman. I can’t hear the word Gideon without thinking of Dale. I pray that your many happy memories will lighten your days and you will be embraced in the peace only our loving Heavenly Father can give.

  4. Family Friend

I am so sorry to hear of Dale’s passing. I remember him picking me up to go to church or bible school when we attended Grace Gospel Chapel in Richmond, VA. Carol invited me to bible school and our entire family began to attend that church until we were grown. Momma went until she passed away. I cherish our days at church with the Goodman family. I have no doubt he is with his Lord and Savior.

  5. Dear Linda

Carolyn and I are sorry for your loss. I worked with Dale at VDOT and always found him to be a true gentleman. Since he was the senior Resident Engineer in the District I called him dad and he called me son even though i am older. He always had a smile and looked for the best in people. We are all a little bit worse off without him and his calm and steady persona. May God bless you and your family and see you through this difficult time.

  6. Former Right of Way and Utilities Manager, Richmond District

Dale was a true gentleman in every form of the word. He called on my very first day at VDOT to welcome me and offer any help I might ever need. He was always upbeat and willing to offer a hand. I never heard anything negative said by anyone about him – only praise. His passing is a great loss.

  7. A friend forever

    Linda and Family,
Words could never be found to explain the depth of friendship I had with Dale. I spent some of the best times of my career with him by my side as he entered his new career after VDOT to the consultant world, as Dale would say…. I had the unique privilege of seeing him in his own way enjoy the little successes and celebrate them with him while he was at Summit. He was, as many have said a “Man of Faith and Family” he loved them both with a love that will never be truly known or forgotten. Dales always said he wanted to end his career after VDOT only working for one firm “Summit” it was important to him, because he was just that kind of Man “Dedicated” way down deep in his core!
Dale, rest well my friend knowing you will forever be a “Summiteer” as you so named us and said you wanted to be until the end!

  8. There is much sadness but also a sense of peace at Dale’s passing. I know that he is so happy to be with our Lord who loves him and loves his family yet there is still an emptiness for all who knew him. I got to know Dale through his wife Linda and the kindness that they showed to the adults and especially the children of the South Hill Educational Excellence Partnership (SHEEP). Dale and Linda were both incredible volunteers in that program. Dale was a perfect role model especially for the boys that he tutored. He shared his love of Christ with each child and anyone he encountered in life. I will greatly miss his humor, the latest football news, and his presence in my life. Sending prayers and love to Linda and all of the family. Rest in peace my friend.

  9. Love and prayers for your family at this time as you miss Dale. I do not know him personally, but I know his sister, Carol Goodman fro Pittsboro, NC. She is a precious lady. May you all know the comfort and presence of our Lord Jesus Christ as time passes until you see Dale again.

  10. Deepest Condolences

Dale was a good man. I deeply appreciated him checking on Daddy (Burton) and seeing him fish in our pond from time to time. Francis and I send our deepest condolences.

  11. I worked as a contract employee with Mr. Goodman at the VDOT South Hill office. He was a very nice man. He had a wonderful personality. A gentle soul. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. I know he will be missed.

  12. To the Goodman family, I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. Goodman took me under his wing like I was one of his own. I got to experience first hand his kindness and so touched by his goodness. Praying for you all during this difficult time. Love you so much.

  13. God definitely gained an angel. Dale was a good Christian man. May God be with each member of his family in the months ahead without him. Lots of love from my home to yours.

  14. Gideons Area Directors

Linda and Famiy, we are praying for all of you! Dale was a great person, an awesome Christian that loved our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and was a super Gideon! May the peace of God that surpasses all understanding be with each if you!
