Mrs. Lucille Hyman Maddux

Mrs. Lucille (Lucy) Hyman Maddux, age 77, of South Hill, VA peacefully passed away on Friday January 12, 2024. She was the owner and operator of Mitchell’s Grocery of Chase City and Lucy’s Custom Embroidery of South Hill. Lucy was the widow of Lawrence Carl Maddux and is survived by her two daughters: Edna Ruth Mitchell of Rice and Brandy Rose Bishop and her husband Stephen of Alberta; her four grandchildren: Lucille (Lucy) Anderson Switzer (Johnny) of Madison; Sterling Rose Hargrave of Lynchburg; Martha Rose Bishop and Alice Ann Bishop of Alberta; her great-grandson, Chandler Hugh Switzer and her two sisters: Judy Walker and her husband Larry of Colonial Heights and Jeanette Hyman of North Carolina. Lucy was an avid crafter and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, baking and entertaining friends and family with the utmost hospitality. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Baskerville where she sang in the choir. She had a passion for gardening and adoration for birds. Lucy’s graveside funeral service will be conducted on Thursday January 18th at 2:00 P.M. in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery in Baskerville.
