Cynthia “Cindie” June Cestaro

06/15/1944 - 03/02/2024

Obituary:

Cynthia “Cindie” June Cestaro, age 79, of Gasburg, VA was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away on Saturday March 2, 2024 surrounded by family.

Cindie is survived by her loving husband of fifty-one years, Michael John Cestaro, and their children: David Ellis (wife Ashley), Clyde Ellis III (wife Amy), and Andrea Antis. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Fallon Ellis, Land Ellis, Ian Ellis, and Melissa Antis, and her great grandchild, Aiden Antis. Cindie also leaves behind her brother, Bill Wenz, who she shared a deep and supportive bond with as only brothers and sisters could. She was predeceased by her parents, Louis Edward Wenz and Isabell Jean Booth, and her sister, Nancy Hodges.

Cindie had a heart of gold and was a beautiful person inside and out. She cared deeply for people and throughout her life, she went above and beyond to support and care for others. Her kindness made a huge impact on so many. Her loving nature also extended to animals, from taking in rescued dogs to feeding hummingbirds, and everything in between.

She experienced many things in her life and lived in many places, but her favorite place in the world was Lake Gaston with her husband, spending time with family. She had stories for days and loved to reminisce about life while sitting on the deck and enjoying the beautiful views.

Cindie will forever be missed, but her love will continue to live in the hearts of everyone she touched.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution in Cindie’s name to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org) to aid in the research of this disease and/or to Olive Branch United Methodist Church (3173 Ankum Rd, Gasburg, VA). 1. Mike
God truly blessed us with our friendship. We were acquaintances for years at the resort, but that changed to a deep friendship on our first cruise together. We will forever cherish our memories of all of the good times we have shared with you and Cindie. Cindie was one of the sweetest, sincere, caring, loving person we have ever known and her sense of humor was great! She will be missed but she will live forever in our hearts.

Please take comfort in God’s loving hands.

  4. Cindie will be remembered

    Mike & Cindie,

During the time when you returned to Gasburg and prepared for Cindie’s final moments, I learned so much about life. Yes, Cindie was struggling, but I knew that she was confident and she trusted in God all the time. As the end of her life approached, she had more certainty than fear. Her attitude taught me a great deal.

And Mike, you showed truly extraordinary dedication as the husband of an Alzheimer’s patient. May your love for her be rewarded, and may God’s comfort and people’s encouragement lift you up in your deep sorrow.

    In Christian Union,
    Pastor Hyungsuk Oh
