Charles Edwin Dunn

Obituary:

We are sad to announce the passing of Charles Edwin Dunn on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. Charles passed away surrounded by his loved ones after a long battle with cancer. Charles Edwin Dunn was born on January 1, 1944 to Bertha Mae King and Earnest Lee Dunn in Prince Ann County, Virginia. He was proudly employed for several construction companies such as Vulcan Materials as a dozier operator, ST Wooten as a dozier operator, Red Oak Excavating as a motor grater operator and dozier operator, Virginia homes, setting modular homes and Kidwell Turf Farm, laying sod. Charles worked all up and down the East Coast, enjoyed his work, traveling and seeing new sites. His most favorite hobby was carpentry, he built swings, cabinets, picture frames, entertainment centers, dressers, gun cabinets, just to name a few, pieces that his family will continue to cherish for a lifetime. If it could be made out of wood, he could make it. Charles married Susan Marie Haley on January 25th, 1964. Charles and Susan were said to have the best Brunswick stew in the county. Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Dunn who passed on April 30th, 2012. Charles is survived by his daughter Cindy Crickenberger, her husband Charles Crickenberger, his daughter Tammy Overby and husband Kenneth Overby, his son Charles Dunn and wife Grace Dunn. His seven grandchildren include Ashley Matthews, Hollie Nichols, Wayne Overby, Devin Dunn, Ainsley Dooley, Lainey Dunn, David Dooley and seven great grandchildren Cody Boyd, Matthew Boyd., Taylor Nichols, Chase Nichols, Dylan Overby, Jake Solomon and Madison Overby. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 15, 2024 in Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home with interment to follow at Christ Episcopal Church Cemetery in Boydton, Va. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent through our website at www.crowderhitecrews.com .
