Mrs. Marjorie Perkinson Grammer

Mrs. Marjorie Perkinson Grammer, age 95, of Petersburg and formerly of South Hill, died on Monday July 29, 2024. She was a long time employee of Peebles Department Store, an active member of the South Hill United Methodist Church and a member of the choir and an avid quilter and gardener. Mrs. Grammer was the widow of Harold Lee Grammer, Jr. and is survived by her two daughters: Susan G. Lynch and her husband Tim of Prince George and Carol G. Gill and her husband Roger of Disputanta; her son, H. Lee Grammer, lll of Richmond; her two sisters: Shirley P. Hoyle of Virginia Beach and Gloria P. Sheffield of Blackstone; her seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and her many loving nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday August 3rd at 2:00 P.M. in Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory with interment to follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Blackstone, VA. The family will receive friends starting at 12:30 until service time in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the South Hill United Methodist Church at 105 Franklin Street, South Hill, VA 23970 or to the Petersburg Home for Ladies at 311 South Jefferson Street, Petersburg, VA 23803. The family wishes to thank the Petersburg Home for Ladies for their outstanding and loving care of Mrs. Grammer. Online condolences may be made through our website, www.crowderhitecrews.com. Condolences
Mrs Grammer was a ray of sunshine whenever I shopped at Peebles. She was such a kind and caring lady and often spoke of her family with pride and love. Sending heartfelt sympathy to her loved ones.

I knew Mrs Grammer from our many years of working together at Peebles. I worked in the Corporste office while she was in the store. I never entered the store that I didn’t speak with her. So sorry for your loss.

Majorie was a class act in many ways. People come into your life, and I am so glad that our paths crossed. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She was not at all a flashy person. She liked things simple. With this being said she lit up a room when she walked in. I know I am a better person for having her in my life all these years and I will never forget her. Majorie LOVE YOU ALWAYS!!! Thanks for loving unconditionally. I will miss YOU.
Marjorie was a elegant hard working lady. We worked together at Peebles in South Hill. Marjorie was a hard working employee, that greeted every customer like a friend. She was a wonderful christian and lovely lady. God only takes the best. Prayers & condolences to her family…you were blessed. Love in Christ, Sheree Bush.

PHL! Every morning she would greet me with a smile. Walking down North Hall and
Looking.in your room is not the same. Having the empty place setting.
Heaven gained such a beautiful soul! I will miss watching the tv or reading the newspaper while popping jelly beans. Hopefully the road is paved of jelly beans and not gold! I love and already miss you!!
Marjorie Grammer was one of the sweetest ladies in the world. I know she is rejoicing with her Lord and Savior. May God be with each member of her family in the months ahead without her. Lots of love from my home to yours

Margie was a hard working elegant lady-she was always so bright and cheerful-when she and her 3 sisters got together it was like going to a noisy restaurant—all talking and no one knows what anybody said! But they always had fun together and I am happy to have been a part of it-she will be missed and much appreciated

The world is a little dimmer without you here. You were one of my favorite hellos in the morning when I came into work!
