Mr. William Thomas “Sonny” Gittman, age 87, of Baskerville, passed away on Tuesday August 18, 2026. He was a retired electrician for Virginia Homes. He is survived by his son, Barry Gittman of Brodnax; his grandson and two great-grandchildren of South Hill; a half-brother, Herman Gittman of Chase City; two half-sisters: Mae Walker and Betty Thompson both of South Hill and his many loving nieces and nephews, including his special niece, Nancy Crowder of La Crosse. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Gittman; his wife, Francis Gittman; his former wife, Rose P. Gittman; his brother, Robert Gittman, husband of Mable and two sisters: Ida Burton, wife of Jessie and Sallie Crowder, wife of Fred. A funeral service will be held on Monday August 24th at 11:00 A.M. in Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory with interment to follow in Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 4:00 until 5:30 in the funeral home. Online condolences may be made through our website, www.crowderhitecrews.com.
