Mrs. Ruth Martin Wright Jorstad

Obituary:

Mrs. Ruth Martin Wright Jorstad, age 86, of South Hill, passed away on Monday June 8, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Leonard Jorstad, Jr. and her parents, George Robert Wright and Edna Martin Wright. Ruth was a graduate of Averett University and University of Richmond. She worked for Reynolds Metal Company for 35 years. Ruth was a member of Dunlora Woman’s Club and Tuckahoe Women’s Club. She was also a former board member of MacCallum Gardens in Chase City and a member of Ephesus Baptist Church. Ruth is survived by her daughter by choice, Lisa Baird (Warren); John’s children: Marty Shephard (Tim), Johnny Jorstad (Vickie) and Sandy Tignor (Chris); her four grandchildren: Ryan Jorstad (Lindsey), Cody Jorstad (Rachael), Alex Tignor (Laura) and Megan Tignor Hilton (James); two great-granddaughters: Addie Tignor and Amelia Hilton and her Wright and Martin family cousins, extended family and friends. A graveside memorial service will be conducted on Saturday June 20th at 10:00 A.M. in the Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery with a reception to follow in the Ephesus Baptist Church Family Life Center. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery Endowment Fund at 1642 Smith Cross Road, South Hill, VA 23970 or to the charity of your choice.
